  • Queer Youth

Participants ages 13-19 will create their own artwork inspired by stories and portraits of local elders. The artworks will be displayed at an exhibition along with the artist’s painted portraits of the elder and the audio recorded stories.

In the workshops led by the artist, students will listen to audio recordings of the elders stories and create their own art pieces based on what inspired them from the stories. These workshops will take place in Pasadena, CA and on Zoom.

The workshops are 2 hours 30 minutes in length, allowing 30 minutes to listen to stories, and 1 hr 30 min to make a painting. Worksheets are provided to help plan ideas for art as the participant listens. Kate and another teaching artist are available to assist with ideas and techniques. No art experience necessary!
